Willie Mae Dawson

August 18, 1925 — July 9, 2017

Willie Mae was born on August 18, 1925, in Russellville, Arkansas, the daughter of John Henry and Katie R. (Richardson) Ketchum. She attended Hanna Public Schools and then transferred to Eufaula where she graduated in May, 1943. On September 28, 1946, Willie Mae married Warren G. Dawson in McAlester, Oklahoma. They were happily married for fifty-two years. Willie Mae worked at the Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, and later worked as a substitute teacher for the Eufaula Public Schools. She was a member of the Deeres Chapel Church. Survivors include: her son, James Dawson and wife Dian of Eufaula; her daughter, Dorothy French and husband Arther of Bower; her sisters-in-law, Bernice Dawson and Dixie Dawson of Eufaula, Betty Lowe of Milburn and Lahoma Henson of Denison, Texas; her grandchildren: Wesley Dawson, Monica Dawson, Ginna Shatswell, Cliff Shatswell, Jill McLaughlin, Adam McLaughlin, and Jaryl French; her great grandchildren; CJ Shatswell, Chase Shatswell, Clay Shatswell, Grant Dawson, Merrick McMorris, Adison McLaughlin and Grayson McLaughlin and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a sister, Inez Pierce.
