William "Bill" Lee Gilbert

William Lee "Bill" Gilbert, 79, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, May 6, 2022, at his home. Bill was born on October 31, 1942, in San Antonio, Texas, the son of Carl William and Leoma Marie (Mayfield) Gilbert. He graduated from Lexington High School in Lexington, Texas in 1960. On February 26, 1963, Bill enlisted in the United States Army. While serving, Bill received several decorations including the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Commendation with 2 Oak Leaves, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. He was honorably discharged on March 8, 1969. On September 4, 1992, Bill married Cordelia "Anne" Thacker in Nashville, Tennessee. They were happily married for twenty-four years. Bill was an active member of the Eufaula First United Methodist Church. Survivors include: his daughter, Amanda Andrews of Noble, OK; brother, Ed Gilbert of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren, Sidney Michael Andrews III and Jayden Nicole Andrews and a niece, Stephanie Rudolph. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Leoma Gilbert and his wife, Anne.
