Wanda Nadine Monroe, 79, of McAlester, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021. Nadine was born on March 28, 1942, in Quinton, Oklahoma, the daughter of Nathan and Frieda Martindale Etchison. She attended Quinton Public Schools her entire education and graduated from Quinton High School in 1960. After graduation, Nadine moved to McAlester where she began working at Kress Department Store. She later moved to Tulsa to work for Fred Jones Ford as a bookkeeper. She worked there for ten years. Nadine married Dannie Monroe in 1972. She worked as a teacher's aide for the Catoosa Public Schools beginning in 1980 and continuing for ten years. She was a member of the Quinton Baptist Church. Survivors include: her husband, Dannie Monroe; her son, Jeff Monroe of Fort Lauderdale, FL; step daughters, Debbie Reavis and husband Chuck of Pawnee, OK, Linda Combs of Moore, OK; her sisters, Nathan Sue Owens and husband Neal of Fort Worth, TX; Elizabeth Dalberth of Webster, NY, Nancy Scott and husband Donald of Wilburton, OK; her brothers, Martin Etchison and wife Wilma of Broken Arrow, OK, Yancy Etchison and wife Regina of Quinton, OK, and a sister in law, Charlotte Etchison of McAlester, OK; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by lifelong friends, Ray and Sue Henson, Bell and Leon Williams, Shirley and Tom Braswell. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Len Etchison, brother in law, Thomas Dalberth, nephew, Neal Ray Owens, Jr. and step mother, Dorothy Etchison. A special thank you goes to the staff of Walnut Grove Living Center and Heartland Hospice.
