Walter was born on October 29, 1928, in Medford, Massachusetts, the son of Walter Joseph, Sr. and Elizabeth (Engle) Chapman Peacock. Walter was raised in Boston, Massachusetts. In March, 1946, Walter enlisted in the United States Army in Boston. He served in the United States Army during World War II. During the Korean War and the Vietnam War, Walter served in the United States Air Force. He retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant in April 1976 in Kansas City. During his military career, Walter traveled to 31 countries including, Europe, Africa, Asia, Canada, and the Middle East. In 1950, Walter married Margaret Haig in London, England. She preceded him in death in October 1988. Walter worked as a communications specialist for fifty-seven years. He retired from the civil service in January 2002. In 1992, Walter married Nancy Catherine Nolan. They were happily married for over twenty-three years. They moved to Eufaula in December 1995. Walter was a member of the Eufaula VFW Post 8798, the DAV and the American Legion. He was also a member of AFSA, GEEIA, MDA and the EI Association. He was a member of the Episcopal Church. In his spare time, Walter enjoyed fishing on the lake. Survivors include: daughter, Marjory Stevens and husband, Stephen, of Kansas; sons, Walter Chapman, of Illinois; and Kevin Chapman, of Missouri; stepchildren: Maureen Adams and husband, Robert, of Illinois; Alice Barbery and husband, Gaery, of Australia; six grandchildren; his brothers, Michael H Peacock and wife Susan of Connecticut, Roland H Peacock, Jr. and wife Dee of Colorado and a sister-in-law, Judy Peacock of North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Engle Peacock, his father, Walter J. Chapman, a brother Peter R. Peacock, his first wife, Margaret Chapman and his second wife, Nancy Chapman.
