Thomas "Tom" Jones

Tomas “Tom” Jones Sr., 84, of Eufaula passed away July 31, 2011 at his home. He was born and raised in McAlester, Oklahoma. Tom attended L’oaverture High School. He enlisted into the United States Army in December of 1945 and was honorably discharged in February of 1947. Tom moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he married Lula Mae Pratt on February 7, 1953. They were the parents of 3 children, a son, Thomas Jr., and 2 daughters, Rosetta and Luretta. The family returned to McAlester, Oklahoma for a brief time to visit his parents. They then moved to Merced, California in 1962 and labored at agriculture as a heavy farm equipment operator for over thirty years. He retired in 1991 and the family returned to Oklahoma. Tom enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities. Tom is preceded in death by: his mother, Rosie Jones; his father, Sidney Jones; his brothers, Johnny E. Jones, Cecil Jones, R.L. Jones, and Billy Ray Jones; his sisters, Hualdy Jones and Celestine Beatrice Daniel; his wife, Lula M. “Pratt” Jones, and a brother-in-law, “Shorty” White. He is survived by his son, Thomas Jones Jr. of Eufaula; his daughters, Rosetta J. Porter of Lawton and Luretta J. Obar of Eufaula; his grandsons, Tashawn L. Armstrong of Moorehead, Kentucky, Kimo T. Foster of Lawton, Aaron J. Foster of San Antonio, Texas and Andrew L. Obar of Merced, California; his granddaughter, La Donna R. Foster of Cleveland, Ohio; his great great granddaughters, Cheona Johnson, La’niya Askew both of Lawton and his great grandson, Devon Armstrong of Moorehead, Kentucky. He is also survived by his sisters, Tressie Huggins of McAlester, Doris Marie Jones of Stockton, California and Mary Lee Liggin and Kathy White both of Wichita, Kansas.
