Thomas Leon Slavens, 74, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, August 12, 2023, at his home. Thomas was born on October 25, 1948, in Stillwater, Oklahoma, the son of Paul Robert and Ruth Mae (King) Slavens. He graduated from Tonkawa High School and later received his associates degree in electronic engineering. In 1968, Thomas enlisted in the United States Army and served during Vietnam receiving several accommodations including: a Purple Heart, 2 Army Commendation Medals with V Device, the Geedunk Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, a Combat Medal - Vietnam, 2 Honorable Discharge Medals and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign medal. He was honorably discharged in 1974. On June 13, 1970, Thomas married Janette Marie Glaser at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma. They were happily married for 53 years. Thomas and Janette lived in Ponca City until 1989 when they moved to Texas living in Austin for two years and then Damon until 2011. They returned to Oklahoma in 2014. Thomas was a member of several organizations including the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree, and a Member of Republic Harley Davidson Riders. He gave to many charities and organizations helping sick children, the poor and wounded warriors. He was a member of the St. Paul Catholic Church.
Survivors include: his wife, Janette of the home; son Mark Slavens and wife Heather of Magnolia, TX; daughters, Marsha Cook and husband Stuart of Lake Jackson, TX and Rebekah Davis of Muskogee, OK; brothers, Robert Slavens of Fort Smith, AK and Paul Slavens Jr. and wife Vicki of Ponca City, OK; grandchildren, Nathan Wilbanks, Mitch Slavens, Anamarie Wilbanks, Trinity Slavens, Keaton Wilbanks, Thomas Wilbanks, Keira Cook, Jordan Cook, Kolbe Cook and a great granddaughter, Lily Cook. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Slavens and Ruth Thompson, brothers Ronald and Mike Slavens and a sister, Kathy Davis.
