Thomas was born on March 13, 1929 in #42 Area Eufaula, Oklahoma to General Lee and Ellen Mae (Brown) Martin. He attended first through eighth grade at Mellette and ninth through twelfth at Eufaula High School, graduating in 1949. Thomas served in the United States Army. In July 1955, he married Edith Darlene Kollman. They were happily married for sixty years. Thomas worked for Union Pacific Railroad for over twenty-eight years, before retiring in 1989. He loved to fish, hunt, and travel. Thomas was a member of the Burns Chapel Church of God. Survivors include: his wife, Edith Martin, of the home; sisters: Jodie Grider, of Conway, AR; Bonnie Ginn and husband, Doyle, of Sperry, OK; Wilma Burns and husband, Leon, of Eufaula, OK; Ella June Helms and husband, Melvin, of Eufaula, OK; and Carol McQuay and husband, Leon, of Sperry, OK; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, General Lee and Ellen Mae Martin; and two brothers: Jerry and Harold Martin.
