Stephen A. Matney

Stephen "Steve" Andrew Matney, 49, of Eufaula, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at his home. Steve was born on May 7, 1966, in San Antonio, Texas the son of Leroy and Doris (Ward) Matney. He graduated from Haileyville High School in 1984 and then attended Northeastern State University. On June 30, 1989, Steve married Lynette Atchley. She died in a car accident just five months after they got married. Steve worked as a machinist for over twenty years. On January 9, 2004, Steve married Mary Stella Weum in Muskogee. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Mary, of the home; his son, Charlie Matney of the home; his daughters, Janie Frazier and husband Cody of McAlester and Marissa and Maddi Matney both of the home; his brother, Leroy Matney, Jr. of Eufaula; his sisters, Judy Matney of Austin, Texas and Janice Saaranen and husband Terry of McAlester; one grandchild, Rilee Frazier. He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Matney.
