Shirley Allene Nicholson

Shirley Allene Nicholson, 85, of Porum, passed away Friday, April 8, 2016, at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Shirley was born on September 5, 1930, in Checotah, Oklahoma the daughter of James Corbin and Marcelline Margaret (Henderson) Turpin. On February 28, 1947, Shirley married Alva Stanley Nicholson, Sr. in Muskogee. They were happily married for 49 years. Alva preceded her in death on December 18, 1996. Survivors include: her sons, Alva Stanley Nicholson Jr. and wife Dorothy of Yukon, Forrest Wayne Nicholson of Porum and Roger Dean Nicholson of Glenpool; her daughters, Brenda June Cowett and husband Wayne of Jenks, Marquetta Faye Bennefield and husband Matt of Tulsa and Barbara Sue Shipman and husband Ron of Jenks; brothers, Jack Edward Turpin of Porum, David Lloyd Turpin and wife Loretta of Porum, Billy Keith Dover of Oregon, Kermit Dover and wife Rosalyn of Porum and Kenny J. Dover also of Porum; her sister, Sybol Faye Hagan and husband Tom of Porum and thirteen grandchildren, twenty-two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers, Riley, LeRoy and Floyd and one granddaughter, Amanda.
