Sharmion was born on April 2, 1936, in Muskogee, Oklahoma the daughter of R.L., Jr. and Margaret (Janeway) Simpson. She graduated from Eufaula High School in 1954. She then attended Lindenwood College from 1954-55. Sharmion then attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of the Tri-Delta sorority. She graduated from OU in 1958 with a Bachelors degree in Education. Sharmion was a longtime member of the Eufaula First United Methodist Church. She lived and taught in Topeka, KS, Del City, Mesa, AZ, Air Force bases in Japan and Libya, Norman, Oklahoma City, Guthrie and Eufaula. She received her Master"s Degree from the University of Oklahoma while teaching in Norman and also was certified in Special Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. She received the Eufaula Teacher of the Year award for 2002-2003 and then retired in May 2003. Sharmion also served as a director for the Bank of Eufaula. Survivors include: her brothers, R.L. Simpson, III and wife Rosemary of Eufaula and Charles D. Simpson and wife Sarah of Edmond; her nieces, Regan Simpson Urquhart, Anna Simpson Rosenthal and Laurie Simpson Dunning; and nine grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Simpson and her father R.L. Simpson Jr. A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Eufaula First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Breon officiating. Pallbearers were Randy Peterson, Tom Engelbrecht, Jimmy Janeway, Johnny Sellers, Gary Moores, Roger Barton and Tim Pendley. Honorary pallbearers were Vincent Pizarro, Wally Shafer, Dr. Kerry Cranmer, William Elza Smith, Jr, Charley Urquhart, Chris Dunning, and Todd Rosenthal.
