Sharlyn "Kay" Stafford

Native Eufaula resident Sharlyn (Kay) Stafford, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018. She was born in Eufaula to Inez and Counterman Shropshire in 1942. Kay grew up in Eufaula and graduated from EHS in 1960. She married Richard M. Rogers in 1961. Their daughter, Michele was born in 1962; daughter Shari followed in 1965. The marriage ended in 1986. Kay lived and worked in the New Orleans, LA area from 1980 until 1995. She fell in love with the city and its football team and was a Saints fan to the end. (Who Dat!?) She married Ronald G. Stafford in 1995 and returned to Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 2000. She had many happy years doing what she loved most: caring for her family and enjoying the retired life in Eufaula. She was an active member of the Trinity Episcopal Church, serving as a faithful member of the Alter Guild. Kay was a free spirit and a classy lady, who loved many deeply and was loved deeply in return. She was a shining light whose glow will be greatly missed. Kay is survived by her daughters, Michele Rogers Calvert and husband Chris, of Pryor, and Sharilyn (Shari) Rogers Tomlin of Eufaula; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; her sisters, Carmita and husband David Hedges of Eufaula, Diane and husband Don Mahaffey of Hugo, along with their son, Danny; stepsister, Debbie Jackson and stepbrothers, Dane and Barry Jackson. She is preceded in death by her mother, Inez Shropshire Jackson, her father, Counterman Shropshire and her stepfather David Jackson.
