Seveda Evelyn Freeman, 75, of Lexington, Ok passed away on May 7th, 2022. Seveda was born on January 20th 1947 to Nathan and Leta Haley in Muskogee, Ok. Seveda graduated from Hanna High School in 1965. During her high school years she hazed for her father, who was a professional steer wrestler. She also played basketball where she received All Star player. She attended Northeastern University in Tahlequah where she received her Bachelor’s degree in teaching in 1969. Seveda took her first teaching position in Keota, Ok, at the end of that year on May 21st. 1970, Seveda married Richard. They shared 52 years of marriage. As their lives became one they moved to Oklahoma City, where she taught at Crestin Hills school system for 5 years. Then on the Lexington Public School from 1975-2000, till she retired. During her school years she taught and was an example to many students not only in book work but also life lessons. Seveda and Richard both loved horses. Seveda after marriage took up the sport of Team Roping and became very proficient in the skills of team roping. Seveda and Richard rodeoed for several years chasing horns and legs. They enjoyed the sport and often took home the money. Seveda on a road trip could be found reading a book just letting the miles go by. Seveda had a love for animals of all kinds. You could find her bottle feeding a calf, playing with the dogs and cats, or getting eggs out of the chicken house. Seveda is predeceased in death by her Mother: Leta, Father: Nathan, Sister: Patricia Brothers: Sam and Ben. Seveda’s father and mother in law, D.O. and Billie Faye. Survived by her husband, Richard of the home. Brother: Tony and wife Sandy of Hanna. Niece: Misty Holmes and husband Jeremy. Great Nephews: Lane and Cooper Holmes. Niece: Suzye Worley and husband Tony of Verdigris. Great niece: T.K. Worley, Great Nephew: Caleb Worley. Sister-in-law: Donna Huston of Norman. Nieces Robin Orr and husband Tom of Norman. Holly Huston of Miami Fl. Great Niece: Harper Orr and Great Nephew: Henry Orr. The drawing of Seveda’s kind and gentle spirit was not only directed to animals. She loved people always ready to extend a helping hand. Always teaching and guiding so that someone can learn a life lesson. The heart of a teacher.
