Sam was born on May 13, 1948 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Nathaniel and LoEva (Roberts) Thomas. In 1968, he graduated from Canadian High School. Sam was in the Marine Corps for two years, receiving the Rifle Expert Badge, National Defense Service Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with 1 Star. He worked as an independent plumber and also at Arrowhead in the maintenance department. Sam attended the Okfuskee Indian Baptist Church. Survivors include: sons: Samuel Thomas and wife, Tamara, of Canute, OK; Stephen Thomas, of Muskogee, OK; Joe Thomas, of Pampa, TX; Anthony Thomas, of Enid, OK; Aaron Thomas, Chickasha, OK; Jamie Knight and wife, Carrie, of Muskogee, OK; daughters: Naomi Mink, of Cement, OK; Jessica Monk, of Louisiana; Mandy Lee, of Eufaula, OK; his father, Nathaniel Thomas; sisters: Linda Morton, of OKC, OK; Naomi Cannon, of Blanchard, OK; Barbara Thomas, of Blanchard, OK; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Diane in 2011 and his mother, LoEva Thomas in January 2007.
