Ruth Marie Lewis, 76, of Canadian, passed away on November 13, 2017 at the Mitchell Manor Nursing Home in McAlester, Oklahoma. Ruth was born on August 12, 1941 in Belle, MO to August and Louisa (Lusher) Kruger. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1959. On June 7, 1959, Ruth married Everett Lewis in Doe Run, MO. They were happily married for over fifty-eight years and raised two children together. Everett and Ruth lived in Farmington, MO and Edmond, OK until their retirement to Windsor Shores Community on Lake Eufaula. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eufaula. Ruth was a loving wife, wonderful mother, best mother-in-law, and caring Gamma. She taught Sunday School at Henderson Hill Baptist Church for many years. Ruth saved and nurtured hummingbirds. She was an accomplished kiteflyer. Gamma was an art teacher, walking to piano, granddaughter keeping Gamma. Ruth is a two time cancer survivor. She was a nationally known chicken nugget and fat mans delight maker. She loved having her "tomorrow" shortcake today! Survivors include: her husband, Everett Lewis, of the home; daughter, Teresa Lewis, of Yukon, OK; son, Jeff Lewis and wife, Stephanie, of Edmond, OK; sisters: Marilyn Brenner, of St. Lucia, FL; and Shelbia Snodgrass and husband, Roger; Brother-in-law, Fred Lewis, of Edmond, OK; five grandchildren: Sydney and Sean Overstake of Oklahoma City; Tanner and Skyler Lewis, of Shawnee; and Justin Cox, of Oklahoma City; and a family of care givers at the Mitchell Manor. She is preceded in death by her parents, August and Louisa Kruger.
