Russell Leroy Henry

Russell Leroy Henry (Ole Leather) was born to Russell and Martha Henry on November 2, 1938 in Oklahoma City. In 1955 he graduated HS and joined the Navy as a bombardier/navigator. He served a total of 12 years. While in the Navy he met Sharon Kay Nelson and married her on February 28, 1959 for 58 years. He was a man who lived life BIG. He loved his family and friends. From being a devoted husband and father and Papa to a real estate broker to a musician to a fishing guide to an avid hunter to owning Fountainhead Marina for 8 years to becoming a private pilot with his own plane, to buying land and founding the Rockin LH Asparagus Farm he was always creating. He developed and manufactured his own line of mustards, pickled asparagus and other gourmet foods. He created a western town and hosted Chuckwagon cookouts. He won many awards including his Agri-tourism award for the state of Oklahoma in 2007. He wrote songs, cowboy poetry, cookbooks and even published books. His poem, Mornin" Business, along with many of his recipes, have been published in a London cookbook, Cowboys and Cookouts and The All American Cowboy Grill cookbook by Roy Roger"s daughter, Cheryl in Nashville Tennessee. He also wrote the book, The White Buffalo Tether. In his retirement he found a love of rebuilding planes. He is survived by his wife Sharon, his 3 children; Chuck, Lisa, and Mark, his 9 grandchildren and his 8 great grandchildren, and his brother Rod and wife, Pam. Russell Leroy Henry was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Jack C.
