Retha L. Edwards

Retha Leveta Edwards, 85, of Eufaula, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017, at the Eufaula Manor Nursing Home. Retha was born on April 20, 1932, in Eufaula, Oklahoma to Carl Willard and Dona(Whisenhunt) Brackett. She graduated from Stidham High School in 1950. On December 12, 1953, Retha married June Ray Edwards. They were happily married for fifty-nine years. She worked at the Naval Ammunition Depot and Fountainhead Lodge. Retha was a long-time Sunday School teacher for the Beginner Dept. with Mayme Guiou. She later worked as a DHS Care Provider. Retha was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eufaula. Survivors include: her daughters, Cheryl Wilkinson and Dawn Edwards both of Eufaula; her grandchildren, Makenna and Karli WiIkinson and Kya Edwards; and brother: Byrl Brackett and wife, Verna, of Eufaula, OK; She is preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Dona Brackett; her husband, June Ray Edwards; infant daughter; brothers: Willard Brackett, Dale Brackett, Sam Brackett, and Carl Brackett; and sisters: Gladys Womack, Vera Sutton, Rosie James, Novice Brackett, and Gearlene Hearod. A funeral service was held at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at the First Baptist Church with Reverend J. Ingram officiating. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Hunn Black & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory.
