Reginald William Thompson was born on March 19, 1946 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania to Carl Thompson and Hilda (Bixler) Thompson. The family moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma when he was thirteen years old. He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1965, and later that year he enlisted in the Air Force Reserve. He served in the Reserves until 1973 as a Reciprocating Engine Mechanic and Technician, working on jet engines. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant during his service with the 937th CAM Squadron at Tinker Air Force Base. Reg gave his life to Christ at the age of 24. He surrendered to the ministry and was licensed to preach by Highland Park Baptist Church of Midwest City in 1974. Reg worked as a salesman for Cook Electric Supply in Oklahoma City, where he met and later married his wife of 36 years, Gaye. He moved his family to Wellston in 1981, and soon joined Hillside Baptist Church of McLoud. He served in the Brotherhood, sang in the choir, and was the Youth Leader there for several years. Reg, Gaye, and Reg Jr. moved to Eufaula in 1991 to take care of his mother after the death of his father the previous year. Reg worked at Community Hospital Lakeview in maintenance, then in 1992 began working for Larry and Karen Armstrong at Reil Rock Products. He continued to work there until his retirement in 2012. Reg enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and loved to fish. He loved talking to people and especially loved witnessing to them of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His dearest wish is that all would come to know Jesus personally and invite Him into their heart. Reg passed from this life into eternal life with his Lord on August 10, 2015 at Post Acute Medical Specialty Hospital of Tulsa, where he received wonderful care from everyone. Reg was preceded in death by his father, Carl and his mother, Hilda. He is survived by his wife, Gaye, of Eufaula; daughters: Tammy Thompson, Paige Matthews, and Michelle Powell and husband Bryant; all of Oklahoma City; son Reginald Thompson, Jr., of Wellston; granddaughters: Cheyene Powell, Jadyn Powell, Erin Thompson, Megan Thompson, and Lauren Thompson; brother, Rick Thompson and wife, Jan, of Choctaw; brother in-law, Mike Hood, of Hitchita; all his wonderful nieces and nephews; his "little sister" Jan Owens; and an abundance of friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
