Elbert "Ray" Jones, 81, of Eufaula, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016, at his home. Ray was born on September 26, 1934, in Eufaula, Oklahoma the son of Herbert and Edna Mae (Schneider) Jones. Ray attended Hanna schools. On September 10, 1955, Ray married Emma Rhodes in Eufaula. They were happily married for 60 years. Ray worked for the City of Eufaula for over fifteen years as the Eufaula Public Works Director. He raised cattle and loved pecan trees. He had a passion for being at the farm as long as he owned it. Ray was a member of the Eufaula Fire Department for twenty years. He served as chief during that time. Ray was also a member of the Eufaula Round Up Club. He was active in the Assembly of God Church since 1956. Ray is survived by: his wife, Emma Jones, of the home; his daughter, Ronda Gayle Jones of McAlester; his sister, JoAnn Gibson of Wichita Falls, Texas and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert & Edna Mae Jones; his special grandparents, BN & Ara Jones; a sister, Virginia Jones and a brother, Bill Jones.
