Ray Francis Voils

May 19, 1916 — March 27, 2013

Ray was born on May 19, 1916 in Stidham, Oklahoma to James and Iva Ethel (Pratt) Voils. He attended school at Canadian and Eufaula Public Schools. On August 5, 1940, Ray married Vada Lorraine Bass, his one true love and best friend, whom he was married to for almost sixty-nine years until her death in 2009. He worked as a supervisor for the Tulsa Corp of Engineers. After retiring from the Tulsa Corp of Engineers, he returned to his life-long love of farming and ranching, which he did until his passing. Ray was a member of the Eufaula Masonic Lodge # 1, the Bedouin Shrine Temple in Muskogee, where he served in the Mounted Patrol, and the Scottish Rites Consistory in McAlester. He was also the Past President of the McIntosh County Shrine Club and the Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Ray was a member of the American Shorthorn Association, the American Quarter Horse Association, and the National Paint Horse Association. He was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Ray was also an honorary church council member, a supporter of UMW, the Youth Department, and a UMM member. Survivors include: one son, Ray Voils, Jr., of Sallisaw, OK; two daughters: Iva George and husband, David, of Canadian, OK; Judy Smith and husband, Floyd, of Eufaula, OK; six grandchildren: Denny Smith and wife, Chelsea; John George and wife, Audrea; Ingrid Smith; Nicole Cook; Scotty Voils; and James Voils; ten great grandchildren: Chelsi Moody; Ty Fells; Wyatt Fells; Noah Cook; Cheyenne Fells; Jordyn Cook; Rebekah George; Sarah George; Mallory Smith; and Sadie Voils; one great great grandchild, Briar James; two nieces: Peggy Ann Brown and Cathy Lyn Miller; and one nephew, Butch Voils. He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Iva Voils; one daughter, Joan Longstreet; two brothers: Jimmy and Vaughn; and one sister, Opal Brown.
