Randall Charles Peterson, 64, of Eufaula, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016. Randy was born on November 30, 1951, in Muskogee, Oklahoma the son of Charles Rufus Peterson and Genoa Ann Redding. He graduated from Eufaula High School in 1970. Randy attended Northeastern State University with plans of becoming a coach. While attending school, he fell into banking working nights at the First National Bank of Muskogee, where he became one of the youngest loan officers. He graduated from the Banking School of Wisconsin. In May 1979, Randy began working for the Eufaula State National Bank, where he became President of the bank. He loved his job, the employees and his customers. On December 23, 1971, Randy married Lana Kay Eddings in Eufaula. They were happily married for forty-four years. Randy loved all sports. He was considered a walking encyclopedia of sports knowledge. He participated in everything from announcing football games to refereeing. He was even president of the quarterback club. Randy was responsible for starting the All Star Football game held every year in Eufaula. He was an avid OU football fan. He loved his time spent in Norman with his family and friends attending the football games. Randy was currently serving as an appointed school board member of the Eufaula Public Schools and had decided to run in the next election. He was a bit of a politician at heart. Randy had a hard time telling people no but he made his own decisions and stuck with it never swaying. Randy loved spending time with his friends gathering in the afternoons after work with the gang on their golf carts. He also loved golfing trips and always played in the bank sponsored events. He also loved his Ford trucks and made sure everyone in his family drove a Ford. He was proud of his classic Ford Mustang. Another joy of his was spending time on the lake on his pontoon boat with his wife, kids, grandkids and friends. Randy was considered "The Rock" for all of his family and community. He was down to earth, humble and hated confrontation. He always wanted everyone to be happy. He was a generous soul who loved his family most of all and was affectionately called "Poppy" by his grandkids. He will be missed by everyone. Survivors include: his wife, Lana, of the home; his daughters, Carrie Rapp and husband Scott of Choctaw and Heather Thompson and husband Shane of Edmond; his mother, Genoa Curtis and husband Garland of Eufaula; his father, Charles Peterson of Checotah; sisters, Pam Steidley of Eufaula and Janette Johnson of Oklahoma City; his brother, Bill Curtis and wife Darlena of Owasso; and his grandchildren, Jillian Kay Cook (10), Chandler Allen Cook (7), Ryder Edison Thompson (2) and Vivian Ivy Thompson (1). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bank of Eufaula Randy Peterson Memorial Fund. The funds will be used as charitable donations in the Eufaula Community.
