Pauline Louise Palmer

April 23, 1917 — November 22, 2011

Miss Pauline Louise Palmer was born in Eufaula, Oklahoma on April 23, 1917 and called home to be with the Lord on November 22, 2011. Her parents were T.H. and Myrtle Palmer who lived at 314 S. Main in Eufaula. The Palmer family included Willie, Arthur, T.H., Jim, Allen, Ruby and Marguerite. The family all lived in Eufaula attending Eufaula Public Schools and contributing to the community through business and civic activities. Miss Pauline Palmer was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church in Eufaula. Miss Pauline Palmer highly valued education and graduated from Eufaula Public Schools, the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree and the University of Oklahoma with a master’s degree. She encouraged all of her family members to obtain the best education possible and was an inspiration to many people to love education. She was an avid reader and travelled all over the world to see many educational sights. Miss Palmer taught at McAlester High School for forty-two years. She taught Distributive Education where students were placed in local businesses and she monitored them as they learned business skills. She developed a special musical program at McAlester High School that was performed every year called “Montage”. She directed the performances and many of her students excelled in music and dance performance and were inspired to pursue careers in theatre due to her leadership. She enjoyed cooking and baking and sharing with family and friends. She was dedicated and generous with helping her nieces and nephews attend college. Her encouragement and financial help made it possible for many of them to attend universities and professional schools. She is preceded in death by her parents, T.H. and Myrtle Collins Palmer, brothers Willie Palmer, Arthur Palmer, T.H. Palmer, Jr., Jim Palmer, and Allen Palmer. She is survived by her sisters Ruby Palmer Swadley and Marguerite Palmer Schmitt. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Dolores Palmer Knox and Maxine Palmer. She especially loved as a daughter her niece, Teresa Butler. She is survived by several nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
