Orval was born on November 1, 1926, in Sulphur, OK, the son of Lottie and Leonard Feagins. After school, he joined the United States Navy on August 19, 1944. His highest rank held in the Navy was Fireman First Class. Orval received the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, and Philippine Liberation Campaign Ribbon. He served our country in World War II. His last day with the Navy was July 20, 1946. After the Navy, Orval started working at Southwestern Bell as a customer service supervisor. He worked there for 37 years where he received the Professional Employee Eagle Award for the 3rd quarter in 1982. While working for Southwestern Bell, he joined FFA as a system technician. He retired from Southwestern Bell on Thursday, December 29, 1983. After retirement, Orval worked at OU on the phones for 8 years. Orval had been a member of the Jefferson Heights Baptist Church for many years in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Survivors include his spouse, Bonnie Newby; his grandson and wife, Brandon and Nikki Newby; and his four great grandchildren, Ashlynn Newby, Makenzie Newby, Amie Montgomery, and Cassandra Montgomery. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lottie and Leonard Fagins, his brother, Floyd Roach, sister, Ellen Garret, and his son, Kerry Newby.
