Olen was born on January 1, 1928 in McIntosh County, Oklahoma to Christopher Columbus Davis and Edith (Hood) Davis. Olen attended Red Bird and Eufaula schools and later worked as a bus driver and in building operations for the schools for over thirty-five years. He also worked for Kelley Funeral Home. On May 23, 1959, Olen married Margaret Lee Hart at the home of Brother Hammer the Eufaula Baptist Minister. They were happily married for sixty years. Olen was a calf roper. He won lots of jackpots and awards. Olen's biggest love, other than his family, was playing bluegrass music. He played for 78 years. He was inducted into the Iowa Old Time Country Music Hall of Fame. Three years ago, he played at the Capitol in Oklahoma City for all the congressmen and representatives. He received a proclamation from the Governor for 75 years of playing. Survivors include: his wife, Margaret Davis, of the home; son, Michael Olen Davis and wife Debbie of Wainwright; two grandchildren, Natasha and Sheena; four great grandchildren, Alauna, Ian, Aniston and Evan and sister-in-law, Betty Davis. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, bus students and musicians. Olen is preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Carl, Harmon, Roy, Curtis; Troy, infant twins; one sister, Christene Williams and a great granddaughter, Macy Davis.
