Norman Louis Stauffer, a cherished member of the Eufaula community, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on October 20, 1937, in Princeton, Illinois, he was the beloved son of Clark Lloyd and Gladys Mae (Booth) Stauffer.
A dedicated student, Norman graduated from Tiskilwa public schools before pursuing his passion for music at Sherwood Music School in Chicago, where he earned his bachelor's degree in 1959. His dedication to education and the arts didn't stop there; he later attained his master’s degree from Millikin University in Decatur, further enriching his knowledge with a Degree in Administration.
On January 1, 1959, Norman began a beautiful journey of love with his wife, Carolyn Buck, in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Their marriage blossomed over sixty-six wonderful years, filled with mutual respect, laughter, and unwavering support for one another.
Norman was the band director for multiple public schools in Auburn, Illinois for twenty-five years and taught Music and Humanities at Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma where he inspired countless students with his passion for music and learning. Throughout his life, Norman was deeply involved in his community, serving as the choir director, music director and pianist for the Eufaula First United Methodist Church for more than twenty-five years. His love for music resonated throughout the church and into the hearts of all who knew him. Whether playing the piano or sharing melodies with others, Norman’s musical spirit enriched the lives around him.
Norman is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, their daughter Cynthia Louise Arendt and husband Allan of Longmont, CO; son, Rodney Lee Stauffer and wife Elizabeth of Peoria, IL. He also leaves behind a sister, Sharon Read of Peoria, IL, and three adoring grandchildren: Garrett Arendt and wife Kristen, Samuel Stauffer, and Benjamin Stauffer and wife Kelsie. He now reunites with his parents, Clark and Gladys Stauffer, and a sister, Beverly Erickson, who preceded him in death.
As we remember Norman, we celebrate a life well-lived, a legacy of love, music, and dedication to family that will forever be cherished in the hearts of those he touched. His memory will continue to inspire and bring joy, just as he did in life.
