Nathan Loyd Haley

July 1, 1925 — November 10, 2011

Nathan Loyd Haley passed away on November 10, 2011 at the Muskogee Regional Medical Center surrounded by family members. He was born in Hanna, Oklahoma on July 1, 1925 to Nancy and Charlie Haley. He attended school at Mellette until he had to quit and help his dad on the farm. While growing up he worked on other farms and then went to North Dakota to work in the wheat harvest. At the age of 16, he got a job working for the railroad driving spikes. When it came time to register for the draft, they found out he wasn’t old enough. They laid him off and told him to come back when he was 18. In later years, he was a rancher and he served many years on the ASC Board in the Eufaula office. He participated in the sport of rodeo. He was a PRCA Steer Wrestler and made the National Finals several times. It was a sport he loved. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leta, mother of Seveda; step sons, Sam Hawkins and Ben Hawkins; his parents; and all his brothers and sisters. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of the home; his daughter, Seveda Freeman and husband, Richard, of Lexington, OK; his son, Tony Haley and wife, Sandy, of Hanna, OK; and his granddaughter, Misty Homes and husband Jeremy and son, Lane, of Westfork, AR.
