Merle James Campbell, 84, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the McAlester Regional Health Center. Merle was born on January 22, 1937, in Dysart, Pennsylvania, the son of William Franklin and Margaret Ratchford Campbell. Merle grew up in Tippletown, Pennsylvania and attended Cresson High School. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955 and was honorably discharged as an Airman 2nd Class in 1959. On January 20, 1979, Merle married Paula Ann Trantham in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They were happily married forty-two years. Merle worked in aircraft manufacturing at Rockwell International/Gulfstream Aerospace from 1960-1993. He enjoyed anything related to airplanes. After retirement, Merle and Paula moved to the lake where Merle enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the First Church of God. Survivors include: his wife, Paula, of the home; son, Jordan Harmon and wife Ciara of Longtown; daughter, Debra Harmon of McAlester; brother, William Campbell and wife Bonnie of West Virginia; sister, Marlene Nagel and husband Al of Maryland; seven grandchildren, Trinity, Siris, Zhavia, Crystal, Travis, Kaylee and Zoe and four great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, six sisters, Lee, Kaye, Bernidine, Iz, Joan and Mona, three brothers, Harold, Clete and Bob and a daughter, Molly.
