Melvina T. Stevens, 80, of Tahlequah passed away Saturday, October 7, 2012 at the Hillcrest Medical Center. Melvina was born on November 24, 1931, in Binger, Oklahoma the daughter of Lloyd Brown and Bessie (Williams) Tounwin. Melvina graduated from high school and then went to nursing school in Tacoma, Washington. Melvina married William Kaulaity and later married James Stevens in 1956. She then spent twenty-five years with Junior Gish who passed in 2006. Melvina worked in nursing for thirty-seven years. She worked and raised her kids and grandkids instilling the pride of hard work into her family. She was the school nurse at Sequoyah High School in Tahlequah for over two years. Melvina was an active member of AFLICO. Survivors include: her sons, Melvin “Foot” Kaulaity of Texanna and Paul Perry Stevens also of Texanna; her daughters, Revina Teague of Texanna and Ethelene Bauqus and husband Bruce of McCloud; her sisters, Vivian Proctor of Wetumka and Marquetia Simpson of Checotah; seven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Scotty Stevens, three brothers and two sisters.
