Melvin L. Clover, 91, of Eufaula, Oklahoma, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at his home surrounded by family. Melvin was born on October 11, 1931, in Mellette, Oklahoma, the son of Finis Edward and Edna Jewell (Isaac) Clover. He graduated from Eufaula High School in 1950. On September 1, 1950, Melvin enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Korean War. He proudly served his country earning a United Nations Service Medal, an Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), a Korean Service Medal w/1 BZ SVC Star and a Combat Infantry Badge. He was honorably discharged on June 4, 1952. Melvin married Billie Sue Nichols on February 24, 1953. To this union two sons were born, Mike and Ed. Melvin worked for Oklahoma Natural Gas. He loved spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren in all of their sporting events. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his garden sharing his vegetables with family and friends. Melvin was very involved in the Eufaula community. He served on the volunteer fire department and was a member of the Lions Club, serving as President in 1978-79. Melvin was a board member of the Eufaula Public Schools and the Eufaula City Council. He coached little league baseball teams. He also worked on the chain gang for over thirty-five years with the Ironhead football team. Melvin was an active member of the Eufaula First Assembly of God Church and served as a board member.
Survivors include: his sons, Mike Clover and wife Terri, of Shawnee and Ed Clover and wife Karen of Eufaula; grandsons, Michael Clover of Stillwater, Matt and Mark Clover of Eufaula; sisters, Norma Doster of Camby, Oregon and Maggie Clouse of Kennewick, Washington. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edna Clover, his wife, Billie Sue and sisters, Lorene Brown and Inez Lewis.
