Mary Ellen Whitton Wilson, 76, passed away January 2, 2014, surrounded by family, at St. John"s Hospital in Tulsa. Born to Ellen (Lynch) and Ray Whitton on June 29, 1937, in Kansas City, MO, she grew up in Oklahoma City, attending Bishop John Carroll and Catholic High School (now Bishop McGuinness). Maintaining friendships with grade school and McGuinness alumni was among her passions. On June 11, 1957, Mary Ellen married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Edward L. Wilson, who preceded her in death, July 22, 2011. She is survived by four (4) children and their spouses, Chris and Kathy Wilson of Oklahoma City, Debbie and Brett Thomas of Tulsa, Vickie and Brent Parker of Georgetown, TX, and Linda and John Ritchie of Muskogee; 11 grandchildren, Matt Thomas (and wife Aimee), Shelby Parker Shields (and husband Matt), Tyler Parker, Kyle Thomas, Kiley Parker, Megan Wilson, Emily Ritchie, Eric Parker, Alex Ritchie, Sam Wilson and Christopher Ritchie; and 2 great-grandchildren, Adysun Thomas and Everly Shields. Mary Ellen also leaves behind a sister, Dona Mideke of Hunt, TX, and a sister-in-law, Sr. Margaret Ann Wilson of St. Mary of the Woods, IN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. An active member of St. Paul"s Catholic Church in Eufaula, Oklahoma, where Ed and she moved approximately 30 years ago, she served as Eucharistic minister and on a variety of boards and committees. In addition, Mary Ellen volunteered once a week at God"s Helping Hand, lending support to those in need. Creative by nature, she enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, spending time in recent years on scrapbooking and card-making, crafts that reflected her artistry and imagination. Being among family and friends, watching an evening sun set across the lake, cheering on her OSU Cowboys and OKC Thunder, and staying in touch with Catholic classmates were the joys of her life. She will be missed by those she loved as all have loved her in return. . . fellow church members, scrapbookers, co-workers, crafters, life-long friends and especially her family, but she is reunited with her best friend, Ed, in heavenly eternity.
