Margie Eileen House

November 8, 1922 — October 18, 2014

Margie Eileen House, 91, of Eufaula, passed away on October 18, 2014 at the Eufaula Manor Nursing Home. Margie was born on November 8, 1922 near Sperry, Oklahoma to Emmett Lee and Dora Ann (Parker) Wilson. After living in several oil boom towns during the 1920"s, the Wilson family settled near Oklahoma City. She graduated from Crooked Oak High School with the class of 1940. She and high school sweetheart, Arlie House, were married in Holdenville, Oklahoma in September 1940. The couple had one child, Kathie. Arlie served in the Marine Corps during WWII and returned to Oklahoma and went to work for an oil well supply company. The family lived in several small towns in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Wyoming. The Houses moved to Eufaula in the 60"s and bought a drive-in called the "Snack Shack". They later moved to the Longtown area and had several business interests there through the years, including mobile home sales, a grocery/filling station, and property sales. Margie and Arlie were married for 65 years, until his death in 2005. It was a love match. Margie was a wonderful mother and grandmother, loved her family and we all adored her. She was a beautiful woman and had the sweetest smile. Among her interests were fishing, arrowhead hunting, cooking, sewing, playing bridge, and art. She had always enjoyed making pencil sketches and when in her 40"s began to work with oil paints. She had natural talent and was soon showing her paintings at art shows and won many awards. The surviving family include: daughter, Kathie Brooks and husband, Gene, of Eufaula; granddaughter, Lori Kimball and husband, Daniel, of Ripley, OK; sister, Eugenia Eddington and husband, Lee, of Loveland, CO; and brother, Lee Wilson and wife, Lola, of Houston, TX. Margie is preceded in death by her husband, Arlie; grandson, Brett Brooks; and one great granddaughter, Larkin Gray.
