Margaret Lee Davis

August 27, 1939 — October 22, 2024

Oktaha

Margaret Lee Davis, born on August 27, 1939, in Carr Creek, Oklahoma, peacefully departed this life on October 22, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was a remarkable woman, deeply loved and admired by all who knew her.

An education from Eufaula High School molded Margaret's strong-willed nature. In her youth, she was known for her feisty spirit, not shying away from difficulties. Margaret well-known and respected in her community for breaking barriers and making her own way in a world that underestimated women. As a beautician and owner of "The Hair Affair," she dedicated her life to caring for others, particularly the women who frequented her shop. It was in those walls that she developed genuine connections, always knowing the latest happenings in Eufaula through the vibrant conversations that unfolded while she styled hair.

On May 23, 1959, Margaret married Olen Davis, with whom she shared a blissful partnership that lasted for 60 incredible years. Their love story exemplified commitment and togetherness, marked by fond memories and a beautiful family. Margaret took immense joy in her role as a grandmother, engaging wholeheartedly with her grandchildren, letting them run wild and free. Her passion for nurturing did not stop at play; she was known for her delicious homemade ice cream, especially enjoyed during Fourth of July celebrations, and for her warm, comforting biscuits that were always a staple in their home. Margaret's playful spirit was evident during bedtime stories, often reading the tales of the Brothers Grimm with a light-hearted touch that delighted her grandchildren, filling their evenings with laughter.

Margaret lived a life rich in faith, growing up in the Free Will Baptist Church and later becoming an integral part of the Eufaula Methodist Church, where she contributed through choir singing, baking communion bread, making items for the bazaar and partaking in Christmas cantatas. Her later years found her at the Elm Grove Assembly of God Church, where her dedication continued to shine.

Margaret’s artistic talents flourished through her love of writing music and poetry, often collaborating with Olen, who would compose melodies for her heartfelt words. She was not only a creator in her own right but also a proud supporter of the musical endeavors of her husband and son, even sewing outfits for their performances. Her personality was both vibrant and flamboyant, with a keen sense of style that emphasized her love for accessories, particularly eye-catching earrings.

Family was of utmost importance to Margaret. She cherished her role as a matriarch, often reaching out with calls to check in on family members and friends, offering prayers and support over the phone. Her love extended to her siblings, her brother Wayne Hart and sister Desi Fay Ketchum, who survive her.

Margaret leaves behind her son Michael Olen Davis and wife Debbie, along with her adored grandchildren Natasha and Sheena, and great-grandchildren Alauna, Ian, Aniston, and Evan. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rufus and Rosie Viola (Aker) Hart, her husband Olen, brother Harold Hart and great granddaughter Macy Davis.

Margaret Lee Davis will be missed dearly, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who loved her.
