Luella Joyce Fritz Brandon, also known as "Lue" or "Grandma Brandon" of Eufaula, Oklahoma was 81 years, 2 months and 16 days old at the time of her death on February 1, 2016. She died at Eufaula Manor Nursing home after a long bout with Alzheimers. She was born on November 16, 1934 in Douglas, Arizona to Henry and Grace Fritz. She had three sisters, Francis, Dorothy and Elaine, and one brother, Bill. Lue married Robert Saxton on February 16, 1952. She was currently married to Shaw Byrd Brandon at the time of her death. They married September 25, 1974. She worked at a drapery shop in Albuquerque, New Mexico for many years and then opened up her own shop in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Her hobbies included gardening, canning, raising milk cows, goats and chickens, crocheting, knitting and oil painting. Horses were her favorite subject to paint and she loved riding and training them also. She often attended church with her husband Shaw and would play the piano or organ at Hope Baptist Church in Checotah, Oklahoma. Lue was a wonderful story teller and could deliver a joke like no other! As a young pre-teen and teenager Lue along with her family lived on a ranch in southern Arizona. Her father was a ranch hand there. Parts of the movie "Branded" starring Alan Ladd and Mona Freeman was filmed at the ranch in 1950. Lue loved to tell stories of exploring the caves, mountains and countryside with her siblings. Luella Joyce Brandon is survived by her husband of 41 years, Shaw Byrd Brandon of Checotah, Oklahoma, her children, Linda Dugi of Seguin, Texas, Ruth Williams and husband Dr. James Williams of Nixon, Texas, Ilene Martinez of Golden, Colorado, Robert Saxton and wife Diana of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Shaw"s children, Bertha Lee Brandon of Los Angeles, California, Roger Brandon, of Edmond, Oklahoma. Also, there are many grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family would like to express our thankfulness to Eufaula Manor Nursing home in Eufaula, Oklahoma for their excellent care of Lue during her long illness. Arrangements were provided by Hunn-Black Funeral Home in Eufaula, Oklahoma. Lue will be greatly missed.
