Lorene Louise Starkey

Lorene Louise Starkey, 98, of Eufaula, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at the St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Lorene was born on February 9, 1921 in Stidham, Oklahoma to James Arthur and Della Mae (White) Pittman. She graduated from Stidham High School in 1938, where she played on the girl's basketball team. In 1938, Lorene married Delbert Starkey in Fame, Oklahoma. They were happily married for over seventy years, before he preceded her in death on December 10, 2008. She lived most of her life McIntosh County and Tulsa area. Lorene worked as a a cook at Stidham Public Schools for ten years. She also was a substitute teacher and babysitter for other teachers. Survivors include: her daughter, Mary Jo Starkey, of Eufaula, OK; . She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Della Mae Pittman; husband, Delbert Starkey; daughter, Jeanna Faye Starkey; brothers: James Arthur Pittman and Chester Lee Pittman; sisters: Velia Mae Starkey Key, and Juanita Laman; and sisters in-law: Juanita Pittman and Gloria Pittman.
