She was born August 2, 1917 in Clarksville, Arkansas to William Carroll and Lou Ada (Ogden) Jacobs. Her family moved to Vivian, Oklahoma in 1929. She married William W. H. Hopkins on December 23, 1935 in Vivian. They lived on a farm in the Raiford area for 41 years. After having raised their four children there, she and William gave up the farm life in 1976 and moved into the city of Eufaula. They later moved to Siloam Springs, Arkansas. On William"s passing in 1994, she moved back "home" to Eufaula. She was living in McPherson, Kansas with daughter Patricia at the time of her death. Much of her long life was dedicated to music. She served as the church pianist at Simpson, Lenna and Vivian Baptist Churches, and sang in the choir at the Eufaula and Siloam Springs Baptist Churches. She had a great singing voice, and was a lover of gospel music. During the 1950"s she was an active member of a gospel quartet known as The Canadian River Valley Quartet, where she sang "alto". They sang at various Eastern Oklahoma sites, mostly small-town and country churches. In addition to her music, she loved quilting and crocheting. She is survived by a daughter and three sons; Patricia Moore of McPherson, Kansas; Martin Hopkins and wife Catherine of Boulder, Colorado; Douglas Hopkins and wife Ann of Eufaula, Oklahoma; and Max Hopkins and wife Karen of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. She had seven grandsons and five granddaughters; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandson. She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, husband William, and son-in-law Verne Moore.
