Lavern Rhodes Campbell

LaVern Rhodes Campbell, 90, of Eufaula, passed away Sunday, June 18, 2017 at the Eufaula Manor Nursing Home. LaVern was born on January 10, 1927, in Hanna, Oklahoma the daughter of Roy E. and Belle Crabtree Rhodes. She graduated from Hanna High School. LaVern started teaching at the age of 18 because of the war. She later attended Northeastern State in Tahlequah where she received a Bachelors and Masters degree in Education, including areas in Library Science, Journalism, Home Economics and English. On April 29, 1954, LaVern married Odell Campbell in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. They were happily married for just over 53 years. LaVern taught in several different school systems including 42, 62, East Liberty, West Liberty, Lamar, Hanna, and retired from Eufaula Public School. She was an active member of the Hanna Assembly of God Church where she served as secretary. LaVern loved spending time with her family. Teaching and church were her life. Survivors include: her sons, Bradley Campbell and wife Carol of Eufaula, Oklahoma; Jr. Campbell and wife Patricia of Dale, Oklahoma; a daughter, Lacresia Sparks of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her grandchildren, Shannun Boggs & husband David, Ashley Ferrell l& husband Toby, Michael Campbell and wife Kelley, Alyssa Burcham & husband Shawn, Jill Willis and Dax Campbell; her great grandchildren, Alexandria Yeager and husband Mitchell, Brooke Reed, Faith & Zachary Boggs, Dalton Ferrell, Harper & Hudson Campbell, Hays Burcham, and Madison Willis; her sisters, Emma Jones of Eufaula and Agatha King & husband George of North Carolina; her brother, Haskell Rhodes of Crowder; her sisters-in-law, Estaline Bean, Beatrice Campbell and Pat McDonald and husband Dewayne. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Odell; her sisters, UnaDee McCullar, Gladys Jones and Verona Sue Rhodes, her brothers-in-law, Raymond McCullar, Jack Campbell, Olen Campbell, Ray Jones, Warnie Pendley and Clifford Bean and her sisters-in-law, Louise Pendley, Betty Rhodes and Gleola Campbell.
