Laurie Elizabeth Dacus, 71, of Eufaula, passed away on May 31, 2024, at her home. Laurie was born on October 12, 1952, in Dallas, Texas. She was the second of six children born to James Philip and Dorothy "Pat" Lee (Fitch) Reames. Laurie graduated from Bryan Adams High School in Dallas. She married Larry Alan Dacus on March 17, 1979, at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. She was an avid volunteer at her children's schools and continued working for the school district in administrative roles after her children graduated. Larry and Laurie moved from Dallas to Eufaula in the summer of 2011. Laurie took great joy in all things crafting, sewing, quilting, and similar pursuits, and she took even greater joy in creating beautiful things for others and teaching others these skills. Laurie was an active member of the Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church and was very involved in her church and Sunday School.
Survivors include her sons: Daniel James Dacus, of Portland, OR; Stephen Michael Dacus and wife Leslie, of Fayetteville, AR; and William Joseph Dacus and wife Katie, of Midland, TX; siblings: Katherine "Kitty" Skow, Michael Reames, Theresa Moore, and Julie Ryder; and grandchildren: Elle Dacus, Audrey Dacus, Olivia Dacus, Bennett Dacus, and Mica Dacus. She is preceded in death by her parents; son Jeffrey Alan Dacus in 2014; and sister, Jody Stickann.
