Joyce Lynn Shade

Joyce Lynn Shade, 80, of Canadian, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022, at her home. Joyce was born on December 13, 1941, in Weatherford, Oklahoma, the daughter of William D. and Violet V. (Roof) Steimer. She married Stanley Edward Shade on February 7, 1970, in Houston, Texas. They were happily married for fifty-two years. Joyce graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a Masters Degree in Education in 1972. She taught elementary students in Key West, Florida, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Hartshorne, Oklahoma and Indianola, Oklahoma. She received recognition as the Teacher of the Year in 1998, prior to retiring that same year. She was a member of the Eufaula First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: her husband, Stanley, of the home; son, Eric Shade and wife Barbara of Tulsa, Oklahoma; daughter, Dr. Starley Shade and Lynn Wenger of San Francisco, California; sisters, Jana Gerhart and husband Ron of Canadian, Oklahoma and Stella Eskew of Bentonville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Tom Shade, and sisters, Pat Harbert and Peggy Steimer.
