Johnny Mack Brown, 83, of Checotah, passed away on July 23, 2021 at the St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Johnny was born on October 13, 1937 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Grace Hawkins. He graduated from Stidham High School in 1955. On April 4, 1964, Johnny married Josie Scott. They were happily married for thirty-nine years, before she preceded him in death in 2003. He worked as a machinist for Yuba for seventeen years and then Murphy Manufacturing, before retiring in 2002. Johnny enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching western shows. He was also very artistic and loved to whittle. Johnny was a member of the Native Stone Baptist Church in Glenpool. He was also a member of the Catoosa Masonic Lodge #185. Survivors include: his daughter, Cochanna Brown, of Checotah; four grandchildren: Jeremy Love, Stephanie Love, Steven Love, and Lauren Brown; seven great grandchildren and one on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Josie Brown; sons: Johnny Mack Brown, Jr. and Kevin Lee Brown; sister, Bell Wilson; and two brothers in-law, Dale Stone and Walter Wilson.
