Johnnie Mae Deere Dabbs, 86, of Checotah, passed away on January 3, 2017 at her home. Johnnie was born on September 14, 1930 in Lenna, Oklahoma to Sampson Arthur "Sumsie" and Betty (Morrison) Deere. In 1957, she married Lewis M. Smith. Johnnie worked as a Certified Nurse"s Aide at the Eufaula Manor for over twenty-two years. She married Hershell Dabbs in 1962. They were happily married for over fifteen years. Johnnie was a member of the Deep Fork Hillabee Baptist Church. She loved fishing, camping, and watching old westerns. Johnnie loved Tom Jones and Joe Montana. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Survivors include: sons: Steven Smith and wife, Deanna, of Checotah, OK; Todd Dabbs and wife, Karina, of Eufaula, OK; Mark Dabbs and wife, Emily, of Stidham; daughter, Betty Alice Smith Johnson, of Checotah, OK; brother, Charlie Derrisaw and wife, Jane, of Fort Collins, CO; sisters: Margaret Ann Derrisaw Murdaugh and husband, Bud, of McAlester, OK; Katy Derrisaw Gulick and husband, John, of Choctaw, OK; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and her dog Chewy. She is preceded in death by her parents: Sumsie Deere and Betty Morrison Derrisaw; and one sister, Ella Mae Derrisaw Campbell.
