Joe Don Conn was born in Asher, Oklahoma during the height of the great depression of the thirties. Joe Don was a descendant of early pioneers of Oklahoma. He lived in Asher until he was about 9 years of age. His family was Christian, and he accepted Christ as his personal savior at the age of 7 during a revival at the First Baptist Church of Asher. Joe Don attended sixteen different schools before he finally graduated from high school in Drumright, OK in 1952. He then joined the United States Air Force, serving for 22 years during the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. During his Air Force career he served as an aircraft mechanic, crew chief, and flight engineer until 1960 when he got involved with computers and electronic data processing. He became a computer systems analyst and served in that capacity to his retirement from the Air Force in 1972. Joe Don married Mona Lee Robinson in October of 1952. They have remained sweethearts and best friends throughout their 61 years of marriage. Together they raised three wonderful children, Deborah, Dale and Tony. He was ordained as a Southern Baptist Deacon in 1962 and was admitted into the Masonic Fraternity in 1964. After retiring, Joe Don moved with his family to Seminole, OK, where he enrolled in Seminole Junior College and completed an associate degree in applied science in 1974. He used his military training and degree continuing as a computer operator until heart bypass surgery in 1982 and again in 1983 required him to take disability in 1986. He and Mona moved to Arrowhead Estates on the shores of Lake Eufaula and have continued living there until his death on December 1, 2013. He is survived by: his wife, Mona, of the home; his sons, Dale Conn and wife Gayla of Moore, OK and Tony Conn and wife Vanessa of Skiatook, OK; his daughter, Deborah Bullard and husband Lewis of Sanger, TX; and his sister Carolyn Hoover of Blackfoot, Idaho. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Gussie Conn, his brothers, Henry and Floyd E. Conn and a sister, Wanda Heffington.
