Jessie Mae Carson, 90, of Hitchita, Oklahoma, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at her home. Jessie was born on March 21, 1927, in Hoffman, Oklahoma, the daughter of Hector and Birdie (Brandon) Potts. She attended school at Hitchita. On March 9, 1943, Jessie married John H. Carson in Henryetta, Oklahoma. She worked as a seamstress at White Stag for twenty-five years in Checotah. She also worked at the Henryetta Hospital. Jessie loved to read, walk and help people. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and listening to gospel music. Her favorite color was red. Momma enjoyed spending time walking with very loving, caring friends that were more like family to us all Rhonda, Paulette, LeeAnn and many others along the way. Survivors include: her daughter, Shirley Allsup and husband David of Adair; her sons, John W. Carson of Hitchita, Jerry E. Carson and wife Anna of Henryetta, and David G. Carson and wife Rita of Hitchita; a sister, Annie Brown of Hitchita; 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one granddaughter, one grandson, one great grandson, a brother, Sam and two sisters, Josephine and Gearldean. A funeral service was held 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Free Will Baptist Church of Hitchita with George Harris officiating. Burial followed at the Lackey Cemetery under the direction of Hunn, Black, & Merritt Funeral Home & Crematory. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.hbmfuneralhome.com.
