Jerry Benjamin Salters, 83, formerly of Eufaula, passed away on May 16, 2019 in Midwest City, Oklahoma. Jerry was born on February 20, 1936 in Artussee, Oklahoma to Benjamin Lain and Bonnie Jewell (Alley) Salters. He attended Artussee Elementary School and Junior High at Eufaula. In 1955, Jerry graduated from Tranquility High School in California. He received his Associate's Degree from Coalinga Junior College. Jerry played baseball as a pitcher at Coalinga Junior College, where they won the State Championship. His team was the first to be inducted into the Coalinga Junior College Hall of Fame. Jerry married Lynda Gertrude Ower on June 18, 1960, having met her a year earlier in Yosemite National Park where they were both working summer jobs during college. They were happily married for fifty-eight years and raised four children together. After spending eleven years working for a finance company, Jerry became a self-employed business man. Over the years, he owned a retail furniture store in San Jose, Ca., and after moving to Eufaula, he opened a real estate agency and in later years, a mobile home park. Jerry enjoyed writing children's stories, poems, songs, and making his famous candy. He also loved baseball, hunting with his family and following his grandchildren to watch them play sports, listen to their music and support them in all their activities. The center of Jerry's life was walking with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Throughout his life, Jerry was always active in his local church, serving in numerous capacities as the Lord directed. For their entire married life, Jerry and Lynda welcomed believers to gather in their home weekly for prayer, Bible Study, and worship.
