James was born on October 12, 1933 in Mellette, Oklahoma the son of Ambris Lee and Virgie Beulah (Locke) Davis. He attended school at Shell Creek and East Liberty. He worked in Arizona at many cotton gins and later worked for McIntosh County in Oklahoma for six years. James also ran his own custom hay baling business. On November 12, 1952, James married Coreina Lois Mooring in Eufaula. He loved anything to do with his cattle, horses and family. In 1976 James and his son Doc rode on horseback across Oklahoma as bicentennial riders. James was called any time anyone needed any cattle wrangled. He would load up his horses and dogs and would be there and have the cattle rounded up in no time. When it became too difficult to jump up on his horses, he rode his tractor and kept several acres of fresh vegetables planted in the ground for his family and friends. James was a member of the Hanna Church of Christ. Survivors include: his wife, Coreina, of the home; his sons, James (Ron) Davis and wife Judy of Tulsa, Doc Davis of Hanna; his daughters, Patricia Davis of Hanna, Paula Danley and husband Eddie of Moscow, Tennessee, Barbara Davis of Hanna and Connie Jewell and husband Calvin of Hanna; two sisters, Valder Wilson of West Fork, Arkansas and Nell Ballinger of Selma, California. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Dowh Davis and Curtis Davis and three sisters, Oneta Boyd, Theo Perry and Arbell Davis.
