James E. Patterson

James Edward Patterson, 78, of Eufaula passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the St. John"s Medical Center in Tulsa. James was born on August 7, 1934, in Lenna, Oklahoma the son of James Vernie and Rhoda Ann (McCabe) Patterson. He attended school at both Lenna and Stidham. On June 11, 1954, James married Vera June Hampton at the pastor"s house in Lenna. James was a member of the Lenna Baptist Church. He worked for the State of Oklahoma and McIntosh County for several years. He also worked as a rancher. He was a member of the Eufaula Masonic Lodge #1, the Shriners and was also a part of the Bedouin Mounted Patrol. He enjoyed playing music in the nursing home. Survivors include: his wife, Vera, of the home; his daughters, Vickie Bess and husband Claude (Bud) of Ada and Sue Shrum and husband Larry of Eufaula; his brother, Elmer Lee Patterson of Roseburg, Oregon; four grandchildren, Heath Bivin of Eufaula, Michael Bivin of Florida, Jamie Bess and Tamra of Ada and Alice Shrum of Kansas City, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Aidan and Macie. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Oral and sisters, Evelyn, Jewel and Ina.
