Ivan Jack Stephens

Ivan "Jack" Stephens, 90, of Eufaula, Oklahoma died June 21, 2014 at Eufaula Manor. Jack was born June 1, 1924 in Oklahoma City to William Alva Stephens and Alta Otas (Gibson) Stephens. He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City in 1942. Upon graduation, Jack joined the United States Merchant Marines from 1943 until 1946. He attended flight school in 1943. Jack lived in West Plains, MO, Wichita, KS, Oklahoma City and Eufaula, OK. He was a member of the Quail Creek Golf and Country Club, Okmulgee Pigeon Flyers Club and the Church of Christ. Jack worked as a self-employed investment banker for Capital Inc. from 1961-1985. He began his ranching career in 1981. He enjoyed pigeon racing, operating his tractor and especially spending time with his family. He married Velma Odetta "Kim" Isaac on January 28, 1955 in Carlsbad, NM. She preceded him in death in 2004. He later married Roberta Mabel Matlock on January 21, 2005 in Eureka Springs, AR. He is survived by his wife, Robbie Stephens of Eufaula; children, Jerry Stephens of Oklahoma City, Mark Stephens and wife, Pam of Jonestown, TX, Jay Stephens and wife, Karen of Sand Springs, Jan Gocke and husband, M.J. of Visalia, CA, Joy Albert and husband, Glenn of Long Mont, CO, Jon Stephens and wife, Patrizia of Newport, RI, Jeff Stephens and wife, Kristi of Houston, TX and Ron Matlock and wife, Linda of Oklahoma City; daughter-in-law, Judy Stephens of Oklahoma City; brother, Carl Stephens and wife, Betty Jo of Oklahoma City; sister-in-law, Esther Owen of Oklahoma City; 17 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Kelley Memorial Chapel. Interment followed at Bower Cemetery. Rev. Dale Lilly will officiate.
