Irena Sue Wood

Irena Sue Wood, 86, of Eufaula, Oklahoma passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, at her home. She was born on July 26, 1931,in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of RB and Myra Stella (Ewing) Olive. She graduated from Eufaula High School in 1949. On September 3, 1949, Irena married Charles Marion Wood in Eufaula. Charles and Irena lived in Oklahoma City from 1955-1991 where she was working at the InterTribal Community Nutrition Center as a receptionist. Irena did volunteer work at Neighbor for Neighbor, belonged to the OKC Creek Community and Eufaula Indian Community. Irena attended Wilmont Place Baptist Church for numerous years and later returned to Glorieta Baptist Church of Oklahoma City. After retirement Irena and Charles returned to Eufaula in 1991. They celebrated 58 years of marriage. Survivors include: her son, Charles Andrew Wood and wife Marcia of Virginia; her daughters, Catherine Sloan and husband Dee of California, Ramona Dillard of New Mexico, and Deidre Davis and husband James of Eufaula; 7 grandchildren, Charles A. Wood, Jr. and wife Dania, Alan Wood, Natalie Dillard, Melanie (Sloan) and husband Josh Elizalde of California, Emily Wood, Deiandra and Richard Amador, and Raymond Davis; nine great grandchildren, Charles A Wood III, Nathan Gilmore, Reagan Wood, Alisha Gilmore, Mary Beth Wood, Franklin Gilmore, William Gilmore, Lucy Wood and Nicole Wood; and her sister, Myra Ann (Olive) Traynor and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her father and mother-in-law, Melvin Henry and Minnie Lavada (Green) Wood; her husband; her son Johnny Ray, her sister Alice Lee (Olive) Park, her great grandson, Gavin Dillard Gilmore; a son-in-law, William (Bill) Dillard and a brother-in-law, Harold Park.
