Ira Joe Young

Ira Joe Young, 77, of Canadian, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020, at the McAlester Regional Health Center. Ira was born on June 11, 1943, in Marvell, Arkansas, the son of Ira and Annie (Hill) Young. He graduated from Sylvan Hills High School in 1961. On February 14, 1962, Ira married Mary Helen Hood in North Little Rock, Arkansas. They were happily married for fifty-eight years. Ira worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the Canadian United Methodist Church. Survivors include: his wife, Mary, of the home; his son, James Young and wife Raychel of OKC, OK; his daughter, Sonya Young of Canadian, OK: his brother, Abner Young and wife Virginia of Como, MS; his brother-in-law, Donnie Brockington of Jacksonville, AR; four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Iris Brockington and a nephew.
