Imogene Matthews

Imogene Matthews, 95, of Eufaula, passed away on March 13, 2019. Imogene was born on December 4, 1923 in Scranton, Arkansas to William Arthur and Minnie Missouri (Smith) Hunter. She attended school at Lenna and Stidham Public Schools. On December 21, 1940, she married Clarence Henry Skaggs. They were married for sixteen years. In 1960, Imogene married William "Bill" Matthews, who preceded her in death in 1995. They were married for thirty-five years. She was a member of the Eufaula Church of Christ. Imogene enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking and taking pictures of all her family and friends. Survivors include: four sons: Wayne Skaggs and wife, Carla, of Eufaula, OK; Les Skaggs and wife, Lisa, of Mannford, OK; William Matthews, of Fayetteville, AR; and Charles Matthews and wife, Diana, of Joplin, MO; three daughters: Marilyn Greene, of Houston, TX; Marvena Belcher, of Eufaula, OK; and Carol Cowan and husband, Ron, of Bixby, OK; grandchildren: Les, Susan, D.G., Gregg, Paul, Susan Leanne, Jason, and Tommy; fifteen great grandchildren; and fifteen great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Minnie Hunter; her husband, William "Bill" Matthews; seven brothers and sisters; two grandchildren: Steven and Randy; and one great grandson, Matthew.
