Ida Basden, long time Quinton resident, died February 11, 2016 at Harmony Gardens Assisted Living in Warrensburg, MO. She was born on August 17, 1923 to Albert Holland and Ida (Freer) Holland, in a rural area near Kenefic, OK. On May 7, 1944, she married Frank Basden and they lived in Savannah, Oklahoma for several years before moving to the Quinton area. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Quinton where she volunteered in the child care center, with the Road Runners, and always contributed to church meals. Ida retired from the Kiamichi Technology Center where she was well known for her baking skills, especially cinnamon rolls. Some of her favorite memories were of trips across the country with her special friends, Ersie and Harvey, after her retirement. She created many wonderful memories of Thanksgiving dinners with family members packed into her living room enjoying great food and loud laughter when old stories were told. She is survived by her children: John Basden and wife, Brenda, of Crowder, OK; Phyllis Watts and husband, Bob, of Warrensburg, MO; grandchildren: Sheila Watts, Kim Krewson, Jennifer Dearman, Melissa Baldwin; granddaughter in-law, Jamie Basden; and nine great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank; infant son, Donnie Paul; grandson, Brandon Basden; five brothers and two sisters.
