Homer Lucas McOwen, Jr., 74, of Indianola, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, January 2, 2022, at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Center. He was born on February 13, 1947, in Fremont, Ohio, the son of Homer Lucas and Kathryn Isabelle Prescott McOwen. He entered into the United States Marine Corps on September 14, 1965. He served in the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with one star and the Vietnam Campaign Medal with one device. He was honorably discharged on April 8, 1969. Homer worked as a prison guard for the Oklahoma State Penitentiary. Homer enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family. He is survived by his son, Homer "Mickey" McOwen III and wife Amber of Krebs; brothers, William McOwen, Kevin Lindner, Roger Lindner, Robert Lindner and Eugene Lindner; sisters, Cora Neal and Kathryn Marshall; grandchildren, Kennedy, Alex and Kymber and Great grandchildren Sadie and Greyson. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Homer McOwen and Kathryn Lindner and brothers, Robert and Ralph McOwen.
